Terminal Shock is the brainchild of JR Thomason (Oakland, CA) an artist, musician, and sound experimentalist. Inspired by early synth music, the sounds of science fiction films, the Space Race, NASA, and industrial culture of the 80s an 90s, JR began Terminal Shock in 1996. By 2000, he was performing at art houses and underground venues. His music culls up imagery of drifting through space, aliens and the spiraling galaxy’s colliding. With rich cinematic textures ambient sounds, progressive beats and chopped up field recordings, Thomason simultaneously embraces chaos and discord allowing for organic formations of sound. This approach gives his eclectic vision a unique feel. Thomason quotes, “If I had a time machine, I’d go back to the 80s when the word “future” actually meant something.” Terminal Shock truly delivers by transporting you to a beautiful, parallel dimension. His debut release on JUNGLE UP is a remix of David Anderson Kirk’s upcoming single ‘DOUBT’, featuring CMB due in September.
“Doubt” will be Kirk’s debut release due late summer 2019. The drop will include writing and vocals by Casey Desmond’s CMB, as well as throwback acid-inspired remixes by Terminal Shock (Oakland). Adam Kaplan co-host of "Are We Still Talking About This," writer/producer NETFLIX originals, says Kirk’s music is “suspiciously invigorating and highly listenable.” We couldn’t agree more. His productions are perfectly manicured, and his ability to manipulate sound using digital instrumentation is remarkable, to say the least. After spending his musical years in punk bands, he's equipped to go solo, and electronic to boot. Stay tuned for this ketamine infused collaboration.
